Latvia will select their entry for Eurovision 2022 on February 12th. Supernova returns as the selection method for the nation.
Supernova will consist of a semi-final and final, on the 5th and 12th of February respectively.
The Latvian broadcaster received a total of 130 submissions. This is the highest number of submissions for the nation. Agnese Strause-Kubliņa, Head of Children’s, Youth and Entertainment Programmes at LTV declared that the upcoming competition will be diverse in genres. Songs were submitted in various genres, from pop, folk, electronic and rock.
A jury will assess the submissions for the structure, originality, arrangement, message, and whether they fit in with the current music scene. Juries will also assess the acts for their personalities, past achievements and potential for future achievements.
